TEACHING:

I teach Nursing of Children in the Undergraduate program and Perspectives of Research Design in the PhD program. I serve as a doctoral student advisor and as a dissertation chairperson.

RESEARCH:

The focus of my research is on biobehavioral mechanisms of symptoms and improving symptom self-management in adolescents and young adults with chronic and life-threatening conditions.

SERVICE:

I am a member of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International, Oncology Nursing Society, and Children’s Oncology Group.

RESEARCH FUNDING 

  • 2016-2017 Principal Investigator, Improving Symptom Self-Management in Adolescents & Young Adults with Cancer. This project will test whether use of the C-SCAT improves the self-management of symptoms and patient-provider communication about symptoms in AYAs with cancer. Funded by St. Baldrick's Foundation. Total costs: $50,000. Project dates: 7/2016-7/2017.
