- Software support: The VCU helpIT center provides phone, online and walk-in support. Limited phone support is available through a third party call center after hours, weekends and holidays.
- Computer repair and support: VCU Technology Services provides support for student machines through the VCU fixIT program. It is located in RamTech, Cabell Library and Sanger Hall.
- Classroom support: VCU Media Services Support provides faculty and staff assistance in using classroom technology.
- Purchasing support: VCU has now opened RamTech as a resource for all students, faculty and staff. They offer academically priced Apple and Dell desktops, laptops and tablets, as well as VCU's exclusive RamSupport protection plan to make sure you never have a day of downtime due to computer problems.
The School of Nursing has a computer lab located on the second floor in room 2008J with 18 PCs and two iMacs. The computers are updated each summer, but if you require specific software, please contact the IT department. There is also a high-capacity printer in the lab — just use RamBucks to pay for your prints.
A desktop or laptop computer is essential for study at VCU, and personal ownership is required for enrolled students. To make sure the computer you have is suitable (or if you need a new one), check out our Student Computer Initiative. The School of Nursing requires students to install Microsoft Office and a printer. Office is free to VCU Students via go.vcu.edu/microsoft. Testing and tracking
The HESI system provides you with case studies and course examinations that offer multiple opportunities for practicing the types of questions you will encounter on the nursing licensure exam.
The Typhon system for undergraduates and graduate nursing students allow preceptors, clinical faculty and course instructors to follow your progress and evaluate you on your clinical and classroom skills.
