I have experience teaching in both clinical and academic settings. In the clinical setting, I served as a preceptor to bedside nurses in the emergency department and a preceptor to nursing practitioner students in the intensive care unit. In this role, I assisted students to apply theory to practice and hone hands-on skills. Additionally, I worked to develop and lead interdisciplinary mock code scenarios for critical care immersion.

In the academic setting, I served as a graduate teaching assistant for four semesters. I developed foundational skills in preparing instructional materials, constructing case studies, creating test questions, and tutoring for pathophysiology and pharmacology. I currently teach in the AG-ACNP program.

My research interests lie in both academic and clinical settings. I am interested in interdisciplinary collaboration, nursing education reform, and nursing burnout. I continue to build on my clinical capstone project by further investigating how to improve interdisciplinary team collaboration by utilizing multimodal communication and simulation. Second, I am interested in investigating nursing burnout and incorporating a practice of mindfulness and resilience in the novice phase; thus, arming the student with the tools needed to protect themselves prior to entering the workforce. Finally, after serving populations with acute respiratory distress associated with COIVD19, I have become interested in the long-term pulmonary effects of this disease.

I continue to serve my community through my practice as a critical care nurse practitioner in the MRICU at VCU Health. I maintain professional membership in organizations including ENA, ANA, AANP, and Sigma Theta Tau. In clinical practice, I have served on various committees including organ donation committee, educational committee, and sepsis committee.
