James Mark Tanner, DNP, M.N.Sc., B.S.N
Clinical Associate ProfessorDepartment of Adult Health and Nursing Systems
TEACHING:
My clinical background is in adult critical care and my graduate work focused on nursing education. I enjoy blending the clinical skills and reasoning that I developed in my clinical practice with the educational and learning theories that I have learned to help students be successful in the classroom as well as in their practice. I teach primarily in the undergraduate program where I teach Nursing of Adults II didactic and clinical.
RESEARCH:
I have focused mostly on educational interventions in my scholarship. Some examples of my work include integrating a gross anatomy lab into undergraduate pathophysiology education, developing interprofessional simulations, and integrating simulation into the curriculum to build clinical competence.
SERVICE:
I have been involved heavily in University and College/School service in my career. I have served on the curriculum committee at both of my previous institutions and have been heavily involved in curriculum design and implementation. I have also served on University interprofessional implementation committees and served in various administrative roles in previous programs. I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
