TEACHING:

Within the School of Nursing, I am course director for Concepts of Professional Nursing, teach clinical sections for Community Health Nursing, and serve as clinical coordinator for all undergraduate community clinical placements. I co-lead simulation experiences to enhance the community health nursing course. I also serve as core faculty for both the Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care as well as the Virginia Geriatric Education Center. I am program director for the post-baccalaureate graduate level Care Coordination Certificate program, and in addition to providing programmatic support, I teach Interprofessional Communication and the Care Coordinator parts 1 and 2 within this program.

RESEARCH:

My scholarship interests include curricular development of care coordination and interprofessional educational strategies with a focus on quality improvement. Additionally, through my involvement with the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program grant, I work on the development and implementation of gerontology-focused curriculum to translate into interprofessional practice. In my role as clinical coordinator for community health nursing clinical placements, I am working to enhance the role of the registered nurse in the primary care setting.

SERVICE:

I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Omega chapter, and serve on the board as the Membership Involvement Chair. I am also a member of the National League for Nursing, American Nurses Association, and Association of Community Health Nursing Educators. I provide mentorship for faculty enrolled in the Virginia Geriatric Education Center's Faculty Development Program. I participate on the School of Nursing's Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and Clinical Education Council. Additionally, I am an appointed member of the University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee
