Clinical Practicum

Guiding excellence in clinical practice

This section is dedicated to supporting preceptors in providing high-quality clinical education to nursing students. Our goal is to ensure a seamless and enriching clinical experience for both preceptors and students, fostering the development of competent and confident nursing professionals.

Goals of Clinical Practicum

The goal of the clinical practicum experience is to engage students in high-quality, varied clinical experiences across different settings. Through meaningful interactions and real-world application, students refine their clinical knowledge and build the confidence needed to excel in their roles.

Students are expected to develop and demonstrate advanced practice clinical decision-making skills, including:

  • Clinical Knowledge: Applying evidence-based practice and foundational concepts to patient care
  • Clinical Skills: Performing assessments, procedures and interventions with accuracy and confidence
  • Clinical Reasoning: Synthesizing information to make informed, patient-centered decisions
  • Clinical Judgment: Evaluating outcomes and adjusting care plans accordingly
