Research/Scholarship Interests
Jane Chung's research program is directed toward developing, applying and evaluating technology applications, including sensors and emerging AI technologies, to detect early mobility changes that may indicate functional deterioration and to promote healthy aging in community-dwelling older adults. She also continues to work on advancing the science by exploring older adults’ acceptability of novel sensor technology and factors leading to digital health equity in a sociocultural context. Her ultimate goal is to develop a new model of independent living based on innovative sensors and related applications to enable older people to age in place through the end of life, maximizing independence and function.
Area of Current Clinical Practice
Chung is a member of the Gerontological Society of America, Sigma Theta Tau and American Medical Informatics Association. She serves as an editorial board member of peer reviewed journals, including Informatics for Health and Social Care and Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing.
Teaching
Chung teaches in the graduate program. The major areas of her teaching focus on health informatics and epidemiology and population health. She also teaches in the Ph.D. program Intervention Research course. Furthermore, she mentors both undergraduate and graduate students from multiple disciplines.
