Research/Scholarship Interests

Lantz's research interests encompass perinatal mental health, with a keen interest in depression, within marginalized populations, and improving maternal health and wellbeing through non-pharmacological, self-management modalities. She is also passionate about the maternal/child dyad with a focus on interaction, attachment and breastfeeding.

Area of Current Clinical Practice

Lantz's current clinical practice encompasses being a clinical instructor in women's health, medical-surgical and pediatric specialties.

Teaching

Lantz teaches as a clinical instructor in the undergraduate Women's Health, Medical-Surgical and Pediatric courses. She also teaches as a Clinical Learning Center simulation instructor in the undergraduate Mental Health and Medical-Surgical courses.

Professional Service

Lantz volunteers as a research assistant on "Biobehavioral perspectives on social connectedness and the Mindful Moms intervention for marginalized pregnant women with depression" (the “Mindful Moms Study”). Within the School of Nursing, she serves on the Global Advisory Committee and Undergraduate Admission and Curriculum subcommittees. At the university level, she is a Faculty Senate alternate and an active member of the Academic Programs and Research Committee and Health Sciences Library Student Advisory Committee. She is an active member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses, the Graduate Nursing Student Academy, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the Virginia Commonwealth University Graduate Study Association.
