Research/Scholarship Interests

Roberson's research focuses on the mobility of critically ill adult patients who are on mechanical ventilation. She is a research co-investigator evaluating the impact of pulmonary-focused verticalization therapy on adult patients experiencing respiratory failure.

Area of Current Clinical Practice

Roberson has been a nurse for more than 30 years and has served in various roles, including bedside nurse (general trauma, cardiac surgery and transplant, critical care and post-anesthesia care patient populations), nurse educator and nurse manager in an a large academic medical center. Her primary clinical areas of interest are in leadership and professional development.

Teaching

Roberson is the concentration lead for the Nursing Leadership and Organizational Science program. She teaches graduate courses that focus on evidence-based practice, leadership, organizational and improvement science, quality improvement and safety.

Professional Service

Roberson is a member of several organizations, including the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), the Greater Richmond Area Chapter of AACN, the American Nurses Association, the Central Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. In addition to serving as a member on the School of Nursing's Faculty Search Committee, she is also a VCU Recruitment Inclusive Champion. Roberson is a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and scholarships and currently serves as a member on AACN's National Teaching Institute Program Planning Committee.
