Bio

Caitlin Hanbury has been the director of communications for the School of Nursing since August 2022. In this role, she spearheads all communications, marketing, and public relations efforts, promoting the school to both external and internal audiences. Her focus is ensuring that the School of Nursing's stories, achievements and initiatives receive the visibility they deserve.

Before joining the School of Nursing, she served as the assistant director of community affairs at the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences, where she led engagement initiatives and reputation-building efforts for the unit's key stakeholders; managed over $27 million in donor funds to advance education, research, and unit initiatives; and spearheaded the implementation of a new SaaS (software as a service) scholarship management system later adopted university-wide. Her background includes a development role at the Maymont Foundation, where she managed fundraising efforts for individual donors and affinity groups, generating over $500,000 annually, and a position as programs and exhibitions manager at the Hermitage Museum & Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia, where she curated and managed cultural and educational programs.
