Research/Scholarship Interests
My research interests lie in both academic and clinical settings. I am interested in interdisciplinary collaboration, nursing education reform, and nursing burnout. I continue to build on my clinical capstone project by further investigating how to improve interdisciplinary team collaboration by utilizing multimodal communication and simulation. Second, I am interested in investigating nursing burnout and incorporating a practice of mindfulness and resilience in the novice phase; thus, arming the student with the tools needed to protect themselves prior to entering the workforce. Finally, after serving populations with acute respiratory distress associated with COIVD19, I have become interested in the long-term pulmonary effects of this disease.
Teaching
I currently teach in the graduate program in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner concentration. I have experience teaching in both clinical practicum courses and didactic courses with specialty in critical care. I translate foundational knowledge in the classroom to the bedside by maintaining my clinical practice as a critical care nurse practitioner in the Medical Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital. I dedicate myself to being a lifelong learner inspiring my students by example.
