Teaching

I have been teaching in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program since 2015 and have been the concentration coordinator for the program since 2017. I teach several of the courses in the PMHNP program and also provide guest lectures on psychiatric mental health content for several other master’s courses. I am experienced with both face-to-face and online instruction and also develop and facilitate simulations for the PMHNP students. I utilize a variety of active learning strategies in my teaching.

I maintain a practice as a PMHNP in two integrated primary care clinics. I participate in the VCU Psychiatry Grand Rounds planning committee and the VCU SON Graduate Program Practice Committee. I’m a board member at large for the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association (APNA) Virginia chapter and a member of the APNA Education Council.
