Teaching

Hardy has been teaching in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program since 2015 and has been the concentration coordinator for the program since 2017. She teaches several of the courses in the PMHNP program and also provides guest lectures on psychiatric mental health content for several other master’s courses. She is experienced with both face-to-face and online instruction and also develops and facilitates simulations for the PMHNP students. She utilizes a variety of active learning strategies in her teaching.

She maintains a practice as a PMHNP in two integrated primary care clinics. She participates in the VCU Psychiatry Grand Rounds planning committee and the VCU SON Graduate Program Practice Committee. She is a board member at large for the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association (APNA) Virginia chapter and a member of the APNA Education Council.

Professional Service

Hardy maintains her practice as a PMHNP in two settings. She participates in the VCU Psychiatry Grand Rounds planning committee and is the chair of the VCU School of Nursing Master's Curriculum Committee.  She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties. She is a member at large for the steering committee of the APNA Virginia chapter. She was previously a member of the VCU IRB for ten years.
