Research/Scholarship Interests

My research has primarily focused on child health issues. I completed a study regarding the perceptions of respite care for families of children with special health care needs in rural Georgia. After receiving funding from the National Association of Pediatric Nurses and Practitioners (NAPNAP), I was involved in a study examining quality of life predictors of children with asthma and their caregivers in southeast Georgia.

Teaching

As a pediatric nurse practitioner, my passion has been teaching the care of children at the graduate and undergraduate level. I have also taught health assessment and the graduate level and several online RN-BSN courses. I have also served as a student advisor to DNP students.

Professional Service

I have been an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Nursing Society and served as the president of the Mu Kappa chapter. I also maintain my membership with NAPNAP. I have also volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House. I have and do serve on several committees with the School of Nursing.

While I have been out of full-time practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner, I have worked several as needed positions for several pediatric clinics. In my most recent work experience, I completed histories and physicals and addressed acute complaints for pediatric patients admitted to an inpatient psychiatric facility.
