NEXus
Enhance your academic experience.
The VCU School of Nursing is a member of the Nursing Education Xchange (NEXus), a collaboration between participating doctoral programs in nursing across the country that allows graduate students enrolled in member schools to take courses that may not be offered through their home institution. NEXus aims to further enrich the educational experiences of graduate students.
Cost
The current NEXus Common Price may be found on the NEXus Cost for a Course page. The price per credit includes tuition and fees (including university fees such as technology, library or application fees, transcript fee, etc.) and is the same, no matter where the course is offered. The NEXus Common Price does not cover the cost of books or educational materials, nor any fees for late payments to the teaching institution.
NEXus courses may qualify for financial aid. If you are receiving aid and plan on taking a NEXus course, complete and route a consortium agreement.
Registration
You are responsible for meeting the registration and payment deadlines of the institution offering the course. In most cases, this will not coincide with VCU’s academic calendar, so be sure to plan in advance financially and academically. Visit the NEXus Deadline Dates page for a complete list of registration deadlines.
Forms
Students interested in taking a NEXus course should work with their NEXus campus staff coordinator on the enrollment process.
Academic Considerations
- Decisions about selecting a NEXus course must be made in consultation with your academic advisor/committee chair
- Students enrolled in a NEXus course must meet all course requirements
- Students are encouraged to contact the course faculty in advance to ensure they understand the course requirements (i.e., prerequisite courses, vacation periods, on-campus requirements, technology requirements, synchronous versus asynchronous discussions)
