All students are required to have a laptop for study at the VCU School of Nursing. Additional information can be found on the VCU technology page.

Below are expenses associated with your education at the School of Nursing. All costs are approximate.

Traditional B.S. and Accelerated B.S. 

  • Upon admission
    • Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen Package: $117.75
    • HIPAA & OSHA Course: $25 combined
    • The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR certification: price varies
    • Immunization: price varies
    • Stethoscope: $100
    • Supply fee: $45
    • Typhon: $60
    • Uniform (two full sets of scrubs): $90 approximately
  • Ongoing expenses
    • Textbooks: $600 per semester
    • Transportation to clinical agencies, seminars and other events as required: price varies
  • Upon graduation
    • Application for licensure (Virginia Board of Nursing): $190
    • NCLEX test: $200 per test

RN to B.S.

  • Upon admission
    • Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen Package: $117.75
    • Immunization: price varies
  • Ongoing expenses
    • Textbooks: Up to $900 for the entire program

 Master’s and Post-master’s certificate

  • Upon admission
    • Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen Package: $117.75
    • HIPPA & OSHA Course: $25 combined 
    • Immunization: price varies
    • Typhon: $90
  • Ongoing expenses 
    • Textbooks: Approximately $250 per semester 
    • Transportation to clinical agencies, seminars and other events as required: price varies

 DNP and Ph.D.

  • Upon admission
    • Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen Package: $117.75
    • Immunization: price varies
    • Reference management software: price varies
    • Typhon (DNP only): $90
  • Ongoing expenses
    • Textbooks: $800 for entire program
