Research/Scholarship Interests

Breckenridge has a passion for understanding the impact of adverse childhood experiences on an individuals' health throughout their life. Implementing motivational interviewing in several areas of work such as vaccine hesitancy and breastfeeding are other areas she has explored. She also has an interest in utilizing different models of precepting nurse practitioner students.

Teaching

In addition to an extensive career in clinical practice, Breckenridge also has more than 30 years of teaching. She has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses which include pediatric and women's health didactice, complex care of the adult, health assessment, population health and more. She has also advised multiple D.N.P. students during her tenure.

Professional Service

Breckenridge enjoys serving at clinics which provide free health care. She has also participated in multiple medical mission trips around the world. She is active on multiple committees in the VCU School of Nursing. Some of those committees include graduate curriculum committee and the admissions committee. She has also served on the global advisory committee for VCU.
